Famous footballer donates school material
Los Realejos council and the Pedro Rodríguez Ledesma Foundation have donated school material to local families.
The authority says this opens the doors to future collaborations in solidarity projects aimed at children.
A representative of the Canary Foundation Pedro Rodríguez Ledesma visited Los Realejos and was received by social welfare councillor, Olga Jorge.
The Foundation bears the name of its president, the football player from Tenerife, previously with Barcelona and now with Chelsea and the Spanish squad. He has developed different solidarity projects since its creation in 2014, initiatives that reinforce the values of the outstanding athlete, of humble family origin, with the intention of collaborating in a society more sensitszed, fair and equitable.
That is why, in addition to its major projects, including equipment for Tenerife’s south hospital, the Foundation promised for this beginning of school year the donation of educational material for children from various families of the island, in collaboration and under the coordination of the municipal areas of Social Welfare.
“From the City of Los Realejos we have different lines of social assistance to families with low resources, in addition to specific ones for the provision of school material, but all collaboration is little since there are occasions when certain families have no knowledge of these municipal resources or do not communicate to the social workers their situation, which we deeply appreciate this support provided by the Pedro Rodríguez Ledesma Foundation, as these days their contribution will allow us to help six more children from this locality at the start of course, “said Olga Jorge.
