Two arrested in money-laundering raids
The Civil Guard has dealt a blow to money laundering in the Canary Islands following a raid in Gran Canaria.
In collaboration with the Local Police, they undertook a co-ordinated operation in Las Palmas which led to the arrest of two suspects.
Three houses were raided and at least 15,000 euros was seized.
The early-morning raids took place in the districts of El Fondillo, Tafira Baja and two in Zárat.
A team from the Operative Group of Intervention and Support, Special Unit (GOIA) of the Local Police – at the request of the Civil Guard – was called in as part of the investigation into a money-laundering network connec-ted to drugs.
The details are under wraps due to a secrecy order but it is believed the raids were part of an ongoing operation against drug trafficking that began several we-eks ago.
