Tenerife champion backs new mountain bike test
The first edition of Transvulcania Bike, the new mountain bike test organised by La Palma Cabildo and the public company Sodepal, will be attended by the champion of the Open of Spain Descent Édgar Carballo.
The Tenerife cyclist will be helping to launch the event on Friday, September 29th.
The start time is 5.30pm and the route will be along the PRLP3 path, from the Pico de la Nieve, and the PRLP 3.1, with arrival at the Plaza de Candelaria de Mirca, in Santa Cruz de La Palma.
Edgar Carballo considers that the uniqueness of the Descent, which doubles the usual distance for this type of test, since it is a route exceeding 8 kilometres, is “a great challenge”.
He hopes the characteristics of the test will motivate cyclists from different places to move to La Palma to participate in the challenge.
Édgar Carballo is one of the most outstanding cyclists in the Canaries thanks to the achievements that he has obtained nationally and internationally in the 13 years of his professional career. In 2005 he won the Spanish Championship of Downhill of the junior category and in 2014, in his step to the elite category, he won the title of national champion Enduro. A year later he participated for the first time in the World Cup individually and also as part of the Spanish team.
In the present year he has won the Spanish Open of Descent in Alcaudete (Jaén). The last title he has obtained has been in the capital of Palma in the fourth edition of the Downtown Santa Cruz de La Palma.
All persons interested in participating in any of the modalities offered for the Transvulcania Bike (K75, K30 and Descent) must complete their registration on the website http://www.transvulcaniabike.com/incripciones-detalle/
