Cash surplus means unexpected 36.1 million euros of new projects

Tenerife Cabildo has approved the use of a cash surplus of 36.1 million euros to make sustainable investments in the field of roads, rural infrastructure, waste management and improvement of tourist areas.

The island’s director of the Treasury, Juan Carlos Pérez Frías, explained during his speech to the Plenary of the Island Corporation that this decision is “an opportunity given to the Corporations after the approval of the General State Budget to make use of the remainder of treasury in projects and sustainable works that must be concluded before December of 2018.”

In addition, and as Perez Frías has detailed, these investments do not count as a spending rule.

In total, 24.3 million euros will be allocated for the construction of insular highways in various municipa-lities and 3.7 million for the construction of a new spill cell, expansion of the selection and classification plant for containers and installation of automatic aspiration of plastic in the Environmental Complex of Tenerife.

As for the tourist actions, 7.5 million euros will be invested in five actions. These are the first two phases of the conditioning of the beach promenade of Los Cristianos-Los Tarajales (Arona); the first phase of the Avenue of the Emigrant and Juan Carlos I (Guía de Isora); Flor de Pascua street, in Santiago del Teide; improvement of the calle Bischofshofen and avenida alcalde Walter Paetzmann (Adeje) and San Juan Iriarte and Plaza Concejil, in the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz.

Finally, a further 3.7 million will be allocated to rural infrastructure projects, specifically in the improvement and paving of the rural roads El Tablero to Casa Grande-Las Rosa and Los Llanos, both in San Juan de la Rambla.
