Arona welcomes new Chinese language education centre
Arona has opened the academic course of the Chinese International Language Education Centre.
The Mayor, José Julián Mena and the director of the Office of Educational Affairs of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Spain, Zhong Xiwei, participated in the opening ceremony of the school year, which has been held in the Auditorium Infant Leonor in Los Cristianos.
Sr. Mena stressed “the ties of friendship that unite Arona with the Chinese community”, made up of almost 1,900 registered people, a union link that, he said, “is part of the heart of our municipality, a municipality that is characterised for its welcoming and open character to different cultures and to those who come to us to work together.”
He also highlighted the cooperation of Arona council to collaborate with the teaching activities of the community, whose language classes will be taught in a municipal public space. In addition, this centre will offer free Chinese lessons in the framework of the programme of activities of the council in different subjects.
Zhong Xiwei, meanwhile, expressed his wish that the Centre for International Education “be a means of intermediation of Chinese culture in Arona and in Spain” given the “ever closer ties existing between the two countries.”
