Anti-flooding scheme for Camino La Palma
A 52,000 euro project is hoped to solve historic flooding problems in a busy area of Los Realejos.
The local council has started a much-needed rainwater collection network on the Camino La Palma between La Carrera and Los Barros which has suffered from bad flooding.
The scheme, costing 52,858 euros as part of the District Plan, also envisages repaving.
The Mayor of Los Realejos, Manuel Domínguez said; “This network of evacuation of rainwater was non-existent to date, being one of the areas that historically generated problems in the rain and is part of the actions taken in recent years to mitigate such problems.”
The mayor, who visited the area recently with councillor, Noelia González, also verified the deterioration of the road surface and confirmed it would be asphalted.
According to the technical draftof the project, the surfacing will be treated to give a slope towards the centre of the road so the water can run off the new channels.
Sr. Domínguez said just over two million euros had been spent this year under the District Plan and he hoped this latest anti-flooding scheme would answer the demands of local residents and motorists using the road to get in to Los Barros.
