Tenerife cycle race to repeat three stages of 2016

The 62nd edition of the Vuelta Ciclista Isla de Tenerife will repeat the format of last year, with the dispute of three stages, the first of them with two sectors. The round will be held from September 1st to 3rd.

The event will be organised one more year by the Autonomous Organisation of Sports (OAD) of the municipality of La Laguna and the Insular Federation of Cycling of Tenerife.

The first stage, on Friday September 1st, will have a first sector that will link Buenavista del Norte with El Sauzal. The second sector will be a time trial by teams Tejina-Valle Guerra-Tejina, recovering in this way a classic stage of the event which was last held in 2015.

On the Saturday, the second stage will be held, between Las Cañadas and Candelaria. On Sunday, September 3rd, the event closes with the third stage, between Los Silos and La Laguna.

The Vuelta 2016 was already disputed with a format of three days, one more than in previous editions.

Once again, there will be an international category, with the presence of three teams coming in this case from Russia, France and Italy, all of Elite Sub 23 category.

Support has once again come from Tenerife Cabildo, the Government of the Canary Islands, Fred Olsen, El Día and Coca Cola.

Iván Martínez (Gsport Valencia) was the winner of the LXI Vuelta Ciclista Island of Tenerife, dominating the race from the first day.
