“Take care” alert during the heat wave
Emergency medics are reminding people to take extra special care during the heatwave.
The main risks for health in the summer are sunburn, sunstroke, tummy upsets and insect bites.
The SUC, which is part of the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, has launched a small information campaign .
Take great care between noon and 5pm, always wear a cap, put plenty of sunscreen on, do not do physical exercise at hottest times, drink lots of fluids and pay special attention to children.
In the event that burns have produced blisters or are too extensive it is recommended to go to the doctor.
The 112 emergency control centre also reminds UK visitors that their calls can be answered in English.
