Island gears up for first-ever Transvulcania
La Palma is putting the finishing touches to its Transvulcania Bike challenge to be held on September 30th.
The island’s Cabildo, through its department of sport and the public company Sodepal, has arranged for six supply points for the first edition of the Transvulcania.
Those enrolled in the premiere of the La Palma test will be able to replenish liquids and solids in different natural environments such as Fuencaliente, Jedey, Hoyo del Rehielo or Villa de Mazo, in addition to the start and finishing points located in Breña Baja and Breña Alta respectively.
Councillor for sports, Ascensión Rodríguez, said the location of the supply points responded to the habitual needs of athletes participating in this type of mountain competition.
The organisers of the Transvulcania Bike explained that external technical assistance during the development of the race is allowed, as long as the passage of other cyclists is not hampered. Provision is prohi-bited outside the authorised official points.
Entries for the different categories of the test can be formalised, until all available places are covered, through the Transvulcania Bike website and any questions related to this process can be resolved through the email email@example.com
