Gastronomy event in El Médano proves another sensation
Thousands of people enjoyed the flavours and good ‘Sensations’ of El Médano.
The gastronomic event offered breakfasts, healthy activities, tapas, wines from the land and musical per-formances in front of the sea.
“Sensaciones, Sabores de Verano” (“Sensations, Tastes of Summer”) was organised by the Agency of Employment and Local Development of the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, headed by Carmen Yanira González, in collaboration with the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin of Abona.
Throughout the day, thousands of people moved to the coast where, from 9am to 2pm, the farmers’ market, artisans and food companies pre-sented their products. In addition, healthy activities such as Taichí yoga and a presentation of low-calorie breakfasts for the summer were carried out by com-panies collaborating with the event.
From 6pm, the establishments of the municipality offered visitors products of the land and wines of the DO Abona and Valley of Güímar for the price of one, two or three euros.
The council once again put on a free transport service with the aim of decongesting the entrance to El Medano.
The day, consolidated as a great culinary and wine festival, was enlivened by musical performances by Bovary, Baby Black Quartet and Aparranda2.
The Mayor, José Domingo Regalado, thanked “the great reception that ‘Sensations’ has had in each of its editions, the collaboration and the efforts of each of the establishments in the area that make this event a benchmark in southern summers of the island.”
He stressed the importance of this initiative “not only as a gastronomy event that serves as promotion for our businesses to be known among the attendees, but also an economic activity, which contributes to energise the local economy. “
