Cash prizes for graffiti artists in Canary contest
Graffiti artists have been rewarded rather than rapped over the knuckles for their work in El Rosario.
The first-ever Canary Graffiti Contest, organised by the local council, was won by Jorge Pérez from La Laguna. He received 600 euros.
Second place went to Ione Domínguez (300 euros) and third to Víctor Pacheco (200 euros) from Puerto.
The awards were presented by culture councillor Fidel Vázquez and professor of the Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineering of the University of La Laguna and promoter of this contest, Damián de Torres.
The works can be seen on a wall at 31 calle Verodes in Tabaiba Media.
The organisers are now looking for new sites for next year’s contest so that the murals created this summer do not have to be erased.
