Santa Cruz opens for the summer holidays with 200 events
Santa Cruz has opened the holiday season with 200 leisure and culture events for the whole family.
Continuing the theme of offering cultural, sports and leisure activities, the city is intent on drawing the crowds, visitors and local people, alike with everything from the Aerosmith concert to singer Rubén Baldes and the multi-talented Luis Fonsi.
There will also be the usual fiestas del Carmen and the July 25th celebrations.
The Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, presented the programme at an event held in the Maritime Park, one of the venues for summer activities.
Sr. Bermudez said the city will remain “open” for the holidays thanks to an intense agenda of culture, sports, leisure and free time, “with which we intend to maintain the same line as the rest of the year, offering activities for the whole family.”
The Mayor highlighted the return of Santa Cruz to the circuit of major concerts produced by private initiative and the celebration of the 220 anniversary of the July 25th battle, in addition to inviting all residents, visitors and tourists to the scheduled events.
Similarly, Sr. Bermudez made reference to the Maritime Park and pointed out that it is a central element of the leisure offer of the capital.
The council also noted the increase in visitors to the Marine Park so far this year, compared to 2016 and the improvement in its facilities.
The 200 events span the period up to September 16th. All the programming can be consulted in the municipal web, www.santacruzdetenerife.es, although it is still open to new additions.
One of the highlights is the Aerosmith concert on July 8th in the Heliodoro Rodríguez López.
Rubén Blades with Roberto Delgado & Orchestra perform on July 21 in the esplanade of the Maritime Park and Luis Fonsi on July 22 in the port area.
Also within the musical section are scheduled various concerts of the Heineken Jazz Festival or the cycle sponsored by the Department of Culture, Lavaderos Live Music, in the hall of the exhibition space of the same name.
The fiestas of Igueste de San Andrés, Afur, Los Campitos, Valleseco, Lomo de las Bodegas or the beginning of the Taganana are part of this calendar of events, as well as the Mójate with your District initiative, which will be held every Saturday of July, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in different locations of Salud-La Salle.
There will be similar activities in Centro-Ifara, both offering water attractions for children.
For children, summer camps for children will also be organised in Health-La Salle or Southwest districts; the Swimming courses or the Sixth Summer Sports Campus of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, these last two with continuity during the month of August.
The design of the August and the first half of September programming is still open.
One of the most popular enclaves during the summer in Santa Cruz is the César Manrique Maritime Park, a space for leisure and recreation that has designed, as every year, a programme of summer activities, which started on June 24th will conclude on September 11.
The management of the Park will offer 16 different activities, designed for the whole family: playroom, inflatable castle, roller ball, children’s ramp, children’s boats and canoes; aquagym, gymkana, zumba, pilates, latin dances, kizomba and taichi. The activities will take place in the swimming pools of the park, in the Hall Haría and in a space enabled as a playroom. All are free.
