Thrilling driving in 43rd Subida a Tamaimo

page 46 thrilling

There were thrilling sights when Tenerife hosted the 43rd Subida a Tamaimo, the sixth event of the Spain Championship Sportech Mountain Trophy 2017 .

The ascent ended with the triumphs of the Asturian Javi Villa (BRC B49), in category I and establishing a new absolute record (2: 43,805); Jonathan Álvarez (BRC B49), in category II, and Almeria José Antonio Aznar (Ginetta G55 GT3), in category III. With their victories, both Villa and Aznar are already virtual champions (mathemati-cally) of their respective categories.

Motor-racing fans were treated to some spectacular driving, both in the practice sessions and the challenge itself.

HIgher temperatures than normal meant a very pleasant time for the crowd but presented extra pres-sures for the drivers and their cars.

There was a particular good performance from the young driver from Tenerife, Javito Afonso (Silver Car S2) who was only a few seconds behind Jonathan Álvarez.
