Police arrests in driving licence scam
Spanish police have arrested 116 people for using false documentation to obtain a Spanish driving licence.
The arrests were made in various parts of Madrid and all were of Dominican nationality.
Among the detainees are four responsible for providing their compatriots with false Dominican driving licences, which were subsequently exchanged for Spanish ones, taking advantage of existing agreements between both governments. They didn’t have to carry out any sort of exams.
Five homes were raided as part of the investigation, as well as an hotel. Various documents were seized, together with two laptops, 16 mobile phones and more than 4,000 euros.
The investigation remains open and further arrests may be made.
