Green light for Playa del Camisón facelift
Arona council has given the go-ahead for repairs and a facelift for the beach of Playa del Camisón in Playa de las Americas.
The authority’s department of urbanism has approved details of the project which will go ahead as soon as possible.
It will see repairs to the breakwater which was seriously damaged in a storm in August 2016 and caused a significant loss of sand. As a result, a large amount of rocks and stones were revealed, making it difficult for people to use and enjoy the beach which had a Blue Flag.
The current government team has aimed to improve the infrastructure of all beaches in the municipality, Los Tarajales and Las Galletas and its walks as a priority, and already has the preliminary project to improve and rehabilitate the pedestrian promenade Las Vistas .
The works, which have all the permits and environmental studies, were approved by the Municipal Government Board and consist of the repair of the parts of the dams affected by the storm and the replacement of the sand, which will be carried out in five phases .
The project will not involve road or pedestrian traffic restrictions, except in a small area adjacent to the beach.
El Camisón beach is in an administrative concession granted by the General Directorate of Coasts in 1990, so the investment, which exceeds one million euros, is private.
