Hiker suffers heat stroke
The GES helicopter was called in over the Easter weekend to rescue a hiker with symptoms of having suffered a heat stroke in La Gomera.
The emergency happened between the local beauty spots of Hornillo and Cercado in Valle Gran Rey in the mid-afternoon when the sun was at its strongest.
The 112 control centre was told that a 51-year-old man had symptoms of having suffered a mild heat stroke.
The island’s rescue group and emergency medics were also called out. The man was airlifted to hospital for treatment.
