New gastronomic event in La Orotava
La Orotava council has organised a new gastronomic event: the contest and route ‘Saborea La Orotava’.
It will start on Wednesday, March 15th and end on Friday, April 7th.
In this initiative, organised by the Department of Local Economic Development led by Felipe David Benitez, bars, cafes, restaurants, tascas and confectioneries will be taking part.
The price of the dish or tapa will be 2.50 euros and four euros in the categories of montadito and sweet, not including drink.
This is more expensive than the norm but organisers said they preferred to offer greater quality and creativity in the dishes offered.
The public participating in this gastronomic activity will be able to aspire to prizes, by drawing lots, for breakfasts, lunches or dinners for two people, donated by the businesses that are part of the project. Consumers must participate in at least ten of the participating companies and cast their vote for their favourite.
Three prizes will be awarded by a jury appointed for each category, and three others, also by modality, chosen among the most voted by members of the public.
In this edition, the organi-sing committee has decided that it will be an essential condition that each establishment uses in the development of its proposal, Canarian cheeses. The winners of the three categories may be present at the VII Canary Cheese Fair, organised by the Pinolere Cultural Association on April 8th and 9th of this year at the Pinolere Fairgrounds.
La Orotava council says the establishments of the municipality have received this new initiative with interest.
