Granadilla hits home school projects to Canary Government
Granadilla has been calling for improvements in its education offering following a meeting with the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The Mayor, José Domingo Regalado, accompanied by education councillor, Yanira González and the director general of educational centres and infrastructures, Ana Dorta, along with other members of the municipal government, recently visited different educational centres in order to know the reality and the needs of different colleges and institutes.
Sr. Regalado said the intention was to make known the projects and improvements which needed doing so money could be allocated in the budget.
He cited, for example, the Centre for Early Childhood and Primary Education (CEIP) of Charco del Pino where it is planned to build the future school; the Institute of Secondary Education (IES) Magallanes, in San Isidro and the rural school of Cruz de Tea.
Yanira Gonzálezs said among the topics addressed was the improvement of the pavilions in certain educa-tional infrastructures in which a significant programme of extracurricular activities is developed, as well as work of conditioning the facilities of the Institute of Los Cardones. The CEIP of Charco del Pinom was also visited to learn about its deficiencies.
Among the requests made by municipal officials are projects to improve facilities at the IES Magallanes, such as the construction of a new library, changing rooms and the enclosure to improve security.
