Three arrested as narco boat stopped near Gran Canaria
The Civil Guard has intercepted a boat with 900 kilos of hashish on the coast of Telde on Gran Canaria.
Police say the pneumatic boat with three crew and 30 bales of hashish inside, containing 900 kilograms, was trying to reach the coast.
A patrol boat carrying out coastal surveillance detected a signal of a suspicious boat near the town of Tufia, according to the Benemérita.
As they approached, just after midnight, they saw it was not moving and showed no lights, characteristisc typical of narco boats.
They also observed three people inside with an indeter-minate number of gas cylinders and bales similar to those used for hashish.
“Immediately, the crew of the boat, ignoring the orders of the patrol boat, tried to flee and started to thrown the bales into the sea,” said a police spokesman.
“Moments later, the Civil Guard intercepted the boat, arresting its occupants and proceeding to recover all the bundles thrown into the water, which were still afloat.”
Three people were arrested and were taken to the port of Taliarte, together with the drugs and boat. All three are men and of foreign nationality.
