Soccer tournament honours Alber’s memory 

The Los Abrigos football field hosted the second tournament commemorating the life of young José Alberto Díaz ‘Alber’.

The four day event involved schools from Los Abrigos, El Médano, Granadilla de Abona and San Isidro.

Those present included the first lieutenant Mayor, Marcos González; councillor for sports, Sara Cano Delgado, and councillor for heritage and transport, Fredi Oramas Chávez, as well as numerous relatives and friends of the young man who died two years ago.

There were also several matches between the children’s selection of Los Abrigos and Las Zocas, and the regional categories of the Esmugran school, among others.

The football field is named after the young ‘Alber’, who died at the age of 21 when he was out fishing, his trade.

Alber was very passionate about soccer, which he played locally, being a member of the team, El Carmen.
