Black vulture smashes into holiday jet 

Holidaymakers flying into Mallorca were left shocked and stunned after a vulture smashed into their plane’s fusilage!

The accident happened when the Lufthansa 320 was coming into land in Palma.

In the early 1980s, the black vulture was virtually extinct on Mallorca but this summer saw a record breeding system thanks to a conservation programme.

Flight DLH 1820 was approaching the airport and making its descent when the bird crashed into the front of the aircraft.

The black vulture was still visible just below the cockpit as passengers disembarked.

The Lufthansa flight had left Munich and was reported to be at a height of around 5,000 ft when the bird struck the airbus.

No‘-one was injured in the incident and the plane landed safetly on the runway, according to Spanish newspaper Diario de Mallorca.

Howevert, the aircraft sustained considerable damage because of the impact.
