Delight as new cultural space officially inaugurated at last in San Juan de la Rambla
A major new cultural space has been officially opened in San Juan de la Rambla.
The ceremony included the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at the Espacio Cultural Rambla.
Those attending included the president of Tenerife Cabildo, Carlos Alonso and the Mayoress, Fidela Velázquez, accompanied by the councillor for citizen participation, Coromoto Yanes and members of the local council.
The Mayoress said the official opening had been a long-awaited moment and was a “before and after” date in the municipality’s history.
The need for such a cultural space had been a long-standing demand from residents who had waited three decades for its com-pletion.
“From this moment, this space will be used for cultural and social development of all the population centres,” she pledged.
She highlighed the enormous contribution of local people which had shone through and extended her heartfelt thanks to them.
Sr. Alonso stressed the importance of culure to San Juan de la Rambla, describing it as “a municipality with heart, life and activity”.
He also highlighted the inaugural programme launched by the council and its commitment to all the groups.
The evening concluded with entertainment.
The Espacio Cultural Rambla opened its doors for the first time on May 29th after the projec began more than 32 years ago.
It is a multifunctional space with capacity for 250 people. The inaugural programme will run until June 17th. It is available on the municipal website www.sanjuandelarambla.es
