This is why we love the sun

PAGE 51

Dear Editor

I took this picture at 6.30pm whilst out walking in Los Cristianos because I was astounded to see NOT one person on the lovely beach.

There were sunbeds after sunbeds completely empty. It just looked very strange. You would expect people to still be on the beach at this time of the evening and in the water. But no, no-one at all.

This letter is a bit tongue in cheek because there was a reason for this. The weather! It had been pretty awful all week including on this particular day.

It just shows how dependent the island is on the weather and no matter what the people in power say, it really is the be all and end all of the island.

Without the hot sunshine, it loses its appeal. OK, it’s right for them to try and give people other things to do, that’s welcome, but the weather is still the centre of everything isn’t it?

At the time of writing, the sun is shining again so fingers crossed that those dreaded clouds won’t appear again. Almost as bad as the UK!
