Two suffer smoke inhalation in house fire
Two people were overcome by smoke, one of them seriously, as a result of a major house fire in Santa Cruz.
Local firefighters were called out to the blaze in calle Pintor Ribera just before 11pm and were told there were people inside the ground floor premises.
Three occupants were rescued and two of them needed hospital treatment for smoke inhalation. A man, aged 20, was described as in a serious condition and a woman, also 20, was less affected. Both were taken to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands.
The house was severely damaged in the incident which was also attended by the police, local and national, Civil Protection and emergency medics.
