Daniel praised for excelling in all his sporting challenges
A very determined young sportsman from San Juan de la Rambla has been praised for his outstanding efforts.
Daniel Cabrera was guest of honour at a reception hosted by the local council and headed by the Mayoress, Fidela Velázquez.
He was hailed as a shining exampe of how to conquer adversity following a string of successes.
His latest was to become Spanish champion in adapted five a side football. With this title, he becomes one of the most successful athletes from la Rambla, adding to his medal tally of 12 with his team Discapagua for whom he plays in defence.
The San José also shines in swimming, being Spanish champion in the 50 metre butterfly. He also holds the national record in relay, has participated in the Australian Open and will soon take part in the European Championship qualifier for the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016, his major dream.
Daniel said he was very grateful for the support given to him by the council and to carry the name of San Juan de la Rambla.
Fidela Velázquez expressed their pride in him and praised his “humility, discipline and good work” who had managed to grow and prosper away from his difficulties and seemed to excel in every one of the challenges he set himself.
