Health service puzzler

Dear Madam

Ref your article in the last edition “Scans on a Sunday could reduce waiting lists.”

Could someone enlighten me?

I thought the health service was running out of money so couldn’t afford more staff and had cut back on appointments and surgery in the aftenoons/weekends for this very reason.

So what has happened, other than a new government??? Is this all talk.

Yes of course it would be a great idea to have scans on a Sunday but as the article says, existing staff might not want to work on a Sunday and would need overtime anywhere.

The Minister for health is reported to have said in that case, they would have to employ more people. Wasn’t that a problem in the first place because of the budget?

Yours, a baffled reader
