Adeje waits for “la ola” to arrive for Canary surf

One sport which needs to wait for the optimum conditions is bodyboarding and such has been the case at La Caleta.

Adeje council is delighted to once again host the Canary Bodyboard Circuit which has various categories, including drop knee and open.

As of last week, compe-titors and organisers were waiting for the best waves, known locally as “la ola”.

The Canary Surf Federation and Adeje council held a joint press conference to explain about the event and the municipality’s total commitment to this sport and many others.

“The presentation of the Championship comes at a very good time for Adeje,” said councillor for sport, Adolfo Alonso Ferrera.

Riders taking part are world championship leader Alexandra Rinder.

Youth councillor, Zebenzui Chinea thanked the Canary Surf Federation for its commitment to Adeje and stressed how much they valued the sport which they did not regard as just for the minority. On the contrary, it was hugely successful.

He said the ola of La Caleta was much loved by riders and everyone was hoping for the optimum conditions.

The championship of La Caleta also counts for the national circuit and up to 100 people were expected to take part.
