Police officer Jose’s fantastic medal tally
A police officer from La Orotava has continued his amazing achievements in the World Police and Fire Personnel Games.
José Carlos Báez González once again excelled in the 2015 event held in Fairfax, Virginia in the USA.
He took part in swimming in the pool and open water and on this occasion, came home with eight medals, four of them gold, the others silver, plus a fourth as well.
In 2007 in Australia, he won six golds in various events. His tally in 2009 was six golds and two silver. Then, in 2011 in New York, he returned with six.
In 2012, he participated in the European games played in Tenerife and won eight gold medals, among other prizes. And in 2013 he competed again in the world, held in Belfast, where he triumphed in all modes, winning podium nine times: eight gold medals and one bronze.
In total, José has scooped 30 gold medals, six silver and one bronze, to which should be added eigh European golds.
The Fairfax games welcomed more than 20,000 athletes and fans from all over the world, with competitors from more than 70 countries. There were 60 different sports involving 12,000 competitors.
The Orotava police officer has always had the full support of the municipality and different private companies and has once again set the bar high in this international sporting event.
