See “London Story” in Santa Cruz
An event of special interest to English speaking residents and tourists here in Tenerife might inspire you to plan a visit to Santa Cruz.
The art exhibition “London Story and other stories” opened on April 3rd and features paintings, photos and sculptures.
The venue is the magnificient Casa Elder, which has become one of the most emblematic buildings in Santa Cruz. It was built in 1905 by the English Elder, Demptser and Shipping Company from Liverpool and is located at the top of Calle Castillo on the corner of Robayna; La Isla bookstore and levi´s are located on the bottom floor. The detailing inside and out is exceptional which one can notice just entering the fabulous carved wooden doors.
The Hungarian artist, Marta von Poroszlay, is the author of the exhibition. She has lived on the islands for many years and has shown her work in many different countries.
Her latest ventures have taken her to the United States and Sweden. She can also work in several different mediums as you will see by the content of this show. She is probably most known here in the islands for her bronze sculptures which are located in several towns in Tenerife and Las Palmas. Her work is often whimsical and delicate but her love of people and nature adds a special poetry to her work.
