Fake residencias cost 3,000 euros 

Spanish police arrested 26 people after investigating a fake marriage or partnership scams.

The gang was based in Barcelona and were offering false papers in order to apply for residencias at a fee of around 3,000 euros.

Spanish citizens suffering because of the financial crisis were tempted into the fraud, with the foreigners mostly coming from Nigeria.

The 26 people arrested include the alleged three ring-leaders who face charges of fraud, forgery and encouraging illegal immigration.
