Electra “when the food becomes a pleasure”
Choosing your favourite dish at Electra, the lovely bistro at Golf del Sur, is difficult enough – and it’s a dilemma even the chef shares!
The restaurant on the outside of the San Blas square has been re-opened again for approximately eight months now and we popped in to enjoy tapas and wine with Paolo, the man at the helm.
Wine is as much a passion for Paolo as the food and he believes the two have to complement each other. Paolo is a wine expert and has a top-class selection of national, Canary, Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Rias Baixas wines which go very well with his style of Mediterranean fusion cuisine, appropriate for lunches and dinners.
Paolo now has someone helping out in the kitchen. Roberto, also Italian, has been taught by Paolo and has become an important member of the Electra team.
To start with, Paolo served a home-made salad with cheeses, giving it a great contrast of flavours and making it a very special first fresh dish. We then tried Iberian pork with a reduction of Pedro Jimenez wine, raisons, apples accompanied by an apple compote, another great mixture of flavours and colours which made this plate a delight for us. To finish off, we were served with a chocolate coolant with currants and coconut, a must for those chocolate lovers as it sweetness is its perfect point.
Happily full, we watched as huge plates of artistic food wafted by, looking and smelling absolutely gorgeous.
But as Paolo explained, not everyone wants to eat a full meal. Sometimes, it is just lovely to pop in and enjoy tapas with wine. Electra’s tapas is not necessarily traditionally Spanish as Paolo brings his Italian flair to the dishes which you can share or keep all to yourself! These are the sort of choices you would make if you have already had a big lunch and just want to relax and enjoy Electra’s bistro atmosphere, either on the terrace or inside with its stunning modern décor.
Electra is currently open every day from 13:00pm to 15:00pm and from 18:30pm untill 11pm, and is a great place for everyone, whether business people, holiday-makers or local residents.
