La Gomera bounces back
La Gomera is delighted to have recorded an average occupany of 75% in its hotels during August.
This figure represents a significant increase on the figures of a year ago with August 2012 registering 57.21%. In August 2011, it was 67%. Occupancy for apartments has remained stable.
In the summer of 2012, the island suffered one of the most severe fires in recent years which in part led to a decline in the number of tourists.
Cabildo president, Casimiro Curbelo said the figures demonstrated the strength the island had to bounce back and to attract a large number of visitors.
German tourism is particularly buoyant but there has been an increase in the number of travellers from the other Canary Islands.
