A pledge to the disabled
Tegueste has promised to become disabled-friendly.
The local council has signed an agreement with Sinpromi, the Society for the Promotion of People with Disabilities.
Representatives will help the municipality to improve its accessibility, remove physical barriers, promote employment and introduce new technologies to help less able-bodied residents and visitors. It is also hoped to provide them with all the means necessary to enjoy cultural activities and sport and leisure time.
From its point of view, the council has pledged to ensure that all new works, renovations and improvements will fully comply with accessibility standards and to promote public transport.
Councillor for social welfare, Remedios de León said initiatives like these and others were aimed at improving the lives of people affected by disabilities living in Tegueste.
