Dispute over “hired doctors” claim
Another row has broken out over the freeze on using Canary operating theatres in the afternoons as a money-saving measure.
According to the Canary Government, it is in the process of hiring more doctors so that this temporary situation can be rectified and therefore help to reduce waiting lists.
In a response to a question from the Popular Party, Canary president Paulino Rivero said this plan was being put into action on a phased basis. He claimed they had or were intending to hire 105 doctors.
However, PP spokesman Australia Navarro challenged the claim, asking where these professionals were. He said that according to the unions, they had not been hired. Only three nurses and two assistants had been taken on.
