Pool death in Puerto
Rescue workers tried in vain to save the life of a German tourist after he was pulled out of a swimming pool in Puerto de la Cruz.
The man, aged 40, was apparently rescued from the bottom of the pool in a hotel complex in Puerto. He had been with his family for a holiday in the north of the island.
Reports say a lifeguard and other guests helped to pull the man out of the swimming pool and the lifeguard carried out resuscitation attempts until an ambulance arrived. These attempts continued by a doctor and medical team but his life could not be saved.
An autoposy was being held to determine the cause of death.
