Golfer Miguel breaks a leg
Spanish golfer, Miguel Angel Jimenez faces up to five months out of action after breaking his leg skiing in Andalucia.
The 48-year-old underwent surgery after falling and could miss the Masters in April.
Jimenez has 19 European Tour wins. There are only ten players who have ever won more on the circuit than the former caddie, who turned professional in 1982 and had to wait a decade for his first success
“It will take three, four or five months for me to recover and be able to return to com-petition. I was playing very well but these things happen in life,” he said.
Jimenez became the oldest victor in European Tour history when he won the Hong Kong Open in November.
The Spaniard, who was one of Jose Maria Olazabal’s vice-captains at the 2012 Ryder Cup for Europe in Medinah, was skiing in the Sierra Nevada. He said he knew the risks involved but loves the sport so much that he could not stay away.
